
BAYAMÓN - Vaqueros de Bayamón defeated Gallitos de Isabela 87-83 to win their first game of the season in their third game of Baloncesto Superior Nacional in Puerto Rico.
The signing of import Robert "Tractor" Traylor paid dividends quickly as he was key for the win. Traylor ended with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks.
Christian Dalmau led Vaqueros with 30 points and behind Traylor was DeMarco Johnson with 13.
Vaqueros started the game with a 10-2 run in the first three minutes and finished up 26-18. Traylor and Carmelo Lee led Vaqueros with 6 points each.
In the second quarter Vaqueros continued with their balanced attack, starting with an 11-2 run to be up 37-20 with 7:18 left. The first half lead was for the hosts 54-37 as Traylor had 12 Johnson 11 and Dalmau 9. Gallitos were led by Devin Green who netted 15 in the first half.
Gallitos never gave up and started the third quarter with a 13-3 run to be down 57-50 after a free throw by Green. After that Vaqueros made some defensive adjustments and stayed on top thanks to their depth and efficiency inside.
In a losing effort Devin Green had 22 points while Darnell Hinson and Shawn Pruitt scored 19 points each.
