MEDELLIN - FIBA Americas, the Colombian Basketball Federation, INDEPORTES Antioquía, INDER Medellín, Liga Antioqueña de Baloncesto and Asociación Colegio de Árbitros de Baloncesto de Antioquia (CABA) organized in Medellin from March 5-7 a FIBA Rules Actualization Clinic in honor of honorary FIBA member John Jairo Rodríguez.
The clinic was given by Geraldo Fontana who is a FIBA Americas Instructor and Commissioner and Eduardo Bellon of Argentina who is also an instructor. A total of 185 participants (authorities, instructors, referees, officials, coaches and players) participated.
Some of the topics discussed were: FIBA Rules, pre-game talk, responsibilities of the table officials, contacts, advantage-disadvantage concept, flagrant foul, two and three referee techniques, teamwork, attitude and professional ethics for a referee given by Oscar Darío Uribe Lopera.
There were also practices and referee evaluations as they wish to integrate into the world of international basketball.
