
NEIVA (2010 South American Championship) - Paraguay defeated Chile 76-72 to get their first win in the South American Championship played in Neiva, Colombia.
The Paraguayans, who lost on day 1 to Uruguay 66-61, controlled most of the game despite having some setbacks at the second and final quarter.
Paraguay controlled the first quarter 17-16, but at the start of the second quarter the offense by Franco Morales and Erik Carrasco gave the Chileans a 22-17 lead. Then a 12-0 run by Paraguay gave them a 29-22 lead and dominated the first half 43-31 thanks to ten points by José Fabio.
In the third quarter Paraguay maintained control and finished with a 67-54 lead.
In the final ten minutes, Chile contained the Paraguayan attack, but lost their efficiency from long range to lose another game.
Bruno Zanotti netted 16 points, Enrique Martinez 15 and Jose Fabio 14 for Paraguay who is 1-1.
In the loss Patricio Briones had 20 for Chile who is 0-2.
