HARTFORD - The Connecticut Huskies won their 71 game in a row by beating Notre Dame 59-44 in the semifinal of the Big East Tournament in NCAA Women's basketball.

Tinas Charles scored 16 points and Maya Moore 11 for the team coached by Geno Auriemma who broke their own record of 70 set from November 9, 2001 until March 11, 2003.

"I can't think anything is more important than winning and playing in the Big East championship for these kids," Auriemma said.

UConn plays the Big East championship tonight against West Virginia.
