
RIO DE JANEIRO - Brazilian shooter Marcelinho Machado broke two records in the win by Flamengo over Sao Jose by the score of 101-89 in Sunday's action of the Brazilian National League.
Machado led Flamengo with 63 points, 38 of them in the first half, including 16 three pointers in 21 attempts. The previous record for points was also held by him who netted 45 and in three pointers the record was held by Manteguinha of Joinville who scored nine in a game.
Flamengo is second in the league with 14 wins in 18 games. The leader is Universo with a 16-3 record.
Universo came from dominating Assis/Basket 101-62 led by Guilherme Giovannoni who scored 29 points.
The third place team is Franca who comes from a huge win over Vila Velha Cetaf / Garoto / UVV 85-64. Rogerio Klafke scored 17 points and Marcio 15 in the victory.
Minas Tenis edged Bauru 114-113 in overtime. The overtime period ended 27-26 in favor of Minas and in the win William Drudi scored 27 points followed by Murilo Becker who netted 23.
In other games Londrina defeated Paulistano 75-64, Pinheiros won over Joinville 75-63 and Araraquara / Palmeiras beat Saldanha da Gama 70-61.
