LAS VEGAS (FIBA Americas Championship) - After a poor performance against Mexico, Puerto Rico rebounded with an excellent offensive game to dominate Panama 108-67 on day 2 of the FIBA Americas Championship.
This is the first win for Puerto Rico and they face Argentina on day 3.
Puerto Rico shot 22-39 from two points, made 17 three pointers in 32 attempts and shot 14-13 from the charity stripe.
A total of five scorers were in double figures for the winners led by Ricky Sanchez with 19 and followed by Carmelo Lee 17, Carlos Arroyo 16, Larry Ayuso 13 and Angelo Reyes 11. They gave 25 assists against just 9 turnovers.
Gary Forbes led Panama with 19 points.
Puerto Rico won the first quarter 28-20 and had a 53-31 halftime lead to never look back.
Panama has a 0-2 record and face Mexico on day 3.
