Centrobasket 12 - Dominican Republic will play for the Gold Medal

 

San Juan, Puerto Rico - Francisco García and Al Horford combined with 40 points and lead the Dominican Republic (5-0) to 79-62 victory over Panamá (3-2) and advances to the gold medal game Centrobasket 2012, in the 2012 edition of the Centrobasket Tournament being held in the José Miguel Agrelot coliseum in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico.

García scored 19 of his 23 points in the second half, while Horford scored 12 of his 17 points also in the second half. While Yack Michael Martínez added 11 and 11 rebounds.

Dominican Republic will play tomorrow the Gold medal game against the winner of the upcoming match between Jamaica and Puerto Rico.

Panamá started the game 6-1, with 7:33 of the first quarter. Isaac St. Rose ended the quarter with lay-up, to take off Panamá 20-13.

Consecutive baskets by Martínez, Joshua Asselin and García came to Dominican Republic 22-21, with 6:39 of the second period. Later, Martínez tied at 26 with a free throw and Horford put up to Dominicans, 28-26 with 22 seconds. But Joel Muñoz three-point shot conclude the first half 29-28 in favor of Panamá.

Dominican Republic took control with a Martínez three-point play and Garcia's jump shot turn the score 33-29 with 8:26. Quisqueya won the first 30 minutes with score 53-46.

Ayarza led Panamá with 19 points, Daniel King, St. Rose and Munoz added 10 each one.
