Centrobasket 12 - Historic bronze medal for Jamaica

San Juan, Puerto Rico - Jamaica's national team (4-2) defeated 78-54 to Panamá (3-3) and won the bronze medal in the 2012 edition of the Centrobasket Tournament being held in the José Miguel Agrelot coliseum in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. This is a historic medal for Jamaica, since it’s getting the first medal in this tournament. Jerome Jordan started the game with four points and Jamaica took control of the game and never looks back. Weyinmi Efejuku Rose free throws increased the lead to ten points, 22-12, with 2:09 of the first quarter. Ernesto Oglivie's three-point shot and Daniel King a jump shot, ended the period 25-17, for the winners. Jamaica dominated the first half 39-30. With an 8-0 rally Jamaica put the score 58-39 with 26 seconds. But Josimar Ayarza scored a triple to end the first 30 minutes 58-41. Ricardo Alliman made a free throw to give the advantage of Jamaica to 21 points, 67-46, with 6:34 remaining. A dunk by Samardo Samuels completed a 6-0 run that reached the biggest lead in the game 74-48 with 3:46. Rose led the winners with 21 points, Jordan added 17 with 11 rebounds and Samuel had 13. For Panama, Oglivie finished with 15 points, Ayarza with 13 and Isaac St. Rose 11.
